Autism: Adolescent Relationships and Sexuality (10-15yrs)
18 September 2012
Finding it difficult to explain sex and relationships to your teen/pre-teen with an Autistic Spectrum Disorder?
Provided by John Mortlock in partnership with IPOP, attendees will gain insight into physical,
cognitive, and social changes that normally occur during puberty and be able to identify how well young people with ASC are making those changes. They will gain understanding of the need to teach new concepts of privacy and of social touch, and the development of the new communication skills required to assist adolescents with ASC to understand socio-sexual training. How to give positive experience of using the word ‘No’ will be explained as essential to ensuring that young people can live with freedom from abuse. The need to proactively develop an adult vocabulary that enables under -standing of socio-sexual training will also be established
Training will be held from 10am-4pm
