- Q - What does IPOP do?
- A - Our team is dedicated to providing disabled children, young people and their families with the right support to enable them to get involved with general play and leisure activities along with their friends and neighbours.
Support may come in the form of general advice and information for parents, or it might be a one-to-one support playworker for a child. We support after-school clubs and holiday playschemes by providing professionals with training, and we even have a have a huge sensory toy library to loan out.
<< back to top - Q - Where are you based?
- A - Our main office is in High Barnet, on the edge of North London.
<< back to top - Q - Do I have to live in Barnet to access your services?
- A - Yes. At the moment, we are only able to support those living in the London Borough of Barnet.
<< back to top - Q - How much does it cost?
- A - All of our services are free or affordable because we are an independent registered charity.
<< back to top - Q - My child is quite independent, but does need a little help. How can IPOP help?
- A - Many disabled children and young people are able to attend after-school clubs and holiday playschemes independently. The playleaders are able to make sure that they are safe and fully included in all club activities.
We can help you find a suitable club for your child/young person. Contact us for more information.
<< back to top - Q - My child/young person may need one-to-one support. How can IPOP help?
- A - We can help if you would like your child to attend an after-school club or holiday playscheme:
We will carry out a play assessment and make a report to Barnet Council’s Disabled Children’s Social Work Team.
The Disabled Children’s Team will then decide if your child/young person is eligible for funding for a support playworker to help them attend playschemes and after-school clubs.
If they are, IPOP will provide this support.
<< back to top - Q - How can my child get involved with more out of school activities?
- A - IPOP has a number of activities on offer outside of school time. Browse the list of facilities and contact us for more information or to sign up for our activities.
<< back to top - Q - Can I access your services immediately?
- A - A number of our services are oversubscribed, others may rely on an assessment, or a family may need to wait for funding to become available. If you are interested in one or more of our services it’s best to contact us to get more information.
<< back to top - Q - Can I meet other parents of disabled children?
- A - Yes. Our Parent Support Programme runs activities during term time. It’s a drop-in session on Wednesday mornings.
